This is a new section that i am starting because while visiting fashion blogs, I noticed that they have everyone on there but the classics. I mean sure they have Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel and even though they were great there are a few more classic people out there that were just as great or greater. My classic today is
Dorothy Dandridge
Being a woman of color I know how it feels to be expected to be or act a certain way. Ms. Dandridge knew all about that especially since it wasn’t acknowledged openly that she wasn’t Caucasian for a very long time. Here’s to you luv…Carmen Jones
In 1954, director and writer Otto Preminger cast Dandridge, along with Harry Belafonte in his production of Carmen Jones. Dandridge’s singing voice was dubbed by opera singer, Marilyn Horne. The film received favorable reviews, and Dandridge was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress, becoming only the third African American to receive a nomination in any Academy Award category.
