Not sure if you are on top of your runway news (I really don’t follow) but i was taking a glance today and much to my surprise i run into Jourdan Dunn.
This model is making changes in the modeling and fashion world. Changes like this are a long time coming for this 20 something model and for 20 something young women of color everywhere.
There is an article that was done in Vogue magazine sometime way back in july of last year that asked the question if fashion is racist. That’s a pretty bold article. We all know that there are models of color out there but there are only a handful of them so they are trying to change that.
Back to miss Dunn, she was the first black model in TEN YEARS to walk the runway for PRADA. You heard me right.. i said PRADA. At 17 she walked forLouis Vuitton, Zac Posen, and Dries Van Noten.
The above photo was in an Oscar de la Renta gown.
Go ‘head girl and do your thing cause lord knows that we all would love to see more women of color doing more than dancin’ and videos and having to act in movies that keep showing life dumpin’ on us.
Can we be happy? Once, just once. Be happy right now.
Well, I know one thing i don’t wanna hear that you can’t because she did it and is still doing it.
I love being a girl right now.
